Reporting to the Power Supply Systems Technical Specialist. Responsibility for running the advanced engineering process for pre-development of vehicle power supply systems. This engineer will also be expected to take on direct responsibility, as appropriate, for the initial design and delivery of the power supply systems of specific vehicles and so must be able to provide clear direction and consistent communication in order to successfully agree any necessary design changes and to progress them up to the gateway as necessary. The engineer will also have the task of assessing the existing power supply system model, in Simulink, and its use throughout the development process. Experience in Design / development of electrical systems for transport such as vehicles, trains, aeroplanes etc. Creation and operation of models using the Mathworks, Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow software and toolset packages. Application of quality tools to assist with a structured design process, (e.g. DFMEA, 6 sigma tools). Understanding or experience of the composition of automotive low voltage electrical power systems.

This role will be within the Virtual Integration of Testing Automation Lab (VITAL) team. VITAL is based on Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environment and used to support embedded software validation testing at full vehicle system level (Level 5). Key Responsibilities: Co-ordinate full vehicle HIL Simulink modelling activity to support current and future vehicle program testing. Support the integration of powertrain and chassis models into VITAL platforms. Identify future HIL simulation capability (e.g. test automation) and work with the HILST Team Leader to develop and deploy new technology. Support test engineer/ECU owner test requirement and develop related HIL capability to conduct the test robustly. Significant experience in hardware-in-the-loop simulation and test (HILST) using dSPACE and Mathworks products such as Simulink, Stateflow, Real-time Workshop and control desk. Experience in resolving ECU software issue using HIL test rig. Good understanding of Vehicle electrical infrastructure (e.g. vehicle diagnostics, vehicle CAN/LIN/FlexRay network and specialised knowledge on some individual ECUs in the vehicle).
